Unfortunately you can't pile layers of slap onto problematic skin and expect a smooth surface, that is unless you're a skilled plasterer, a trade I have always longed to master (one can dream). Good skin is the basis of great makeup, so I have put a lot of time into researching which ingredients actively work to change the texture of the skin; AHAs to clear and resurface, Retinol to plump and Antioxidants to hydrate. Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair is a beautiful serum containing many of the most effective antioxidants and, using it over the past few months, it has genuinely improved the texture of my skin. Combined with my regular AHA cleanser, the serum has rebuilt slightly dimpled areas on my cheeks and restored a radiance to my skin without making it more oily (phew!). Not only does this serum hold pride of place on my own dressing table, I also use it in my professional makeup kit, mixing it with foundations to create a lighter texture and provide a soft sheen to the skin. It works particularly well with Estée Lauder's range of Double Wear foundations; making them sheer, hydrating and gorgeously glowing.
